An important health-related decision has been taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. Giving details, state government spokesperson and health minister Hrishikesh Patel said that the Gujarat Karmayogi Swastha Suraksha Yojana has been launched for all officers, employees and pensioners of the state. Under this, a cashless health benefit package will be provided.
Giving more details, the minister said that similar to the benefits available under the PMJAY-MAA scheme currently implemented in the state, all Karmayogi will be included and benefits will be provided under this scheme. All Karmayogi and pensioners of the state government will be given “G” series AB-PMJAY-MAA card. The action regarding the card will be taken by the PMJAY nodal agency SHA (STATE HEALTH AGENCY).
Under this cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh per family will be available annually for the treatment of prescribed procedures at government hospitals, government equivalent hospitals and PMJAY empanelled hospitals.
Outpatient (OPD) treatment will not be covered under the scheme. The monthly medical allowance (Rs. 1000/-) currently provided will continue to be available. For expenses exceeding Rs. 10 lahks and in cases where the treatment procedure is not available in AB-PMJAY-MAA and the hospital is not empanelled in PMJAY, medical reimbursement will be available as per the existing system as per the Gujarat State Services (Medical Treatment) Rules, 2015.
It is noteworthy that currently a total of 2,658 hospitals (Private: 908, Government: 1754) are associated in the state under the PMJAY-MA scheme. In which 2,471 prescribed procedures are covered.
ALL INDIA SERVICES (AIS) officers and pensioners serving in the state, state government officers, employees, pensioners and their dependent families as well as employees who are eligible for medical reimbursement as per the existing system as per the Gujarat State Services (Medical Treatment) Rules, 2015 will get the benefit of this scheme. With this decision of the state government, approximately 4.20 lakh officers and employees and approximately 2.20 lakh pensioners, a total of 6.40 lakh Karma Yogis will get the benefit of health services and facilities under this scheme.
Fixed-pay employees are currently getting the benefit under the Karma Yogi Card. Since 70+ pensioners are currently getting the benefit under the recently launched Vayavandana scheme, they will not be eligible for the benefit under this scheme. Under this scheme, the burden of Rs. 303.3 crore premium state government. The state government will pay a premium of Rs. 3708/- per family per year for treatment under this card.
